INTRODUCTION
Museums are repositories of our civilizational consciousness. They play a pivotal role in preserving, educating, and sharing our collective heritage with future generations. While they guide us in interpreting history, they are also spaces for inter-cultural dialogues and a reflection into a nation's vision for the future.
Ministry of Culture, Government of India is organizing a two day Global Summit titled "Reimagining Museums in India” as a platform for engaging with nationally and internationally renowned museum professionals, sharing best practices in Museology, fostering networks, encouraging strategic partnerships, and creating a framework to Steer Museum development and renewal.
KEY OBJECTIVES
• Sharing global best practices for museum development and management.
• Understanding the current needs of Indian museums.
• Fostering strategic partnerships between Indian and international museums.
• Developing a blueprint for renewal of museums.
THEMES
The Summit will be spread across two days and cover the following topics:
Architecture and Functional Needs
• Best practices on museum layouts, galleries, space requirements and functional requirements such as climate, lighting etc.
Management
• Best practices on cultural management structures, employee management practices and financial viability among others
Collections (including Curation & Conservation practices)
• Best practices on storage, display, conservation,and related issues
• Best practices in curating collections and galleries challenges and methodologies
Education and Audience Engagement
• Best practices and techniques on communication, visitor experience and technology, both onsite and online.
